What is a museum? All museums collect objects, record their details, care for them and share the objects with their visitors. In this display you’ll find objects and works of art that reflect the people, culture and environment of Dundee, Scotland and our wider world. The display also celebrates Dundee’s designation as a UNESCO City of Design. The objects you see here are drawn entirely from the City’s diverse permanent collections. The display introduces ideas you can explore in greater depth, in the permanent galleries. When you think about it, design has an impact on every aspect of our lives, including the objects we choose for our homes, the cut of the clothes we wear, the layout of our City’s streets and the creation of social policy. As you’ll see in this display, thoughtful design has the power to change our lives for the better.
